1. Introduction Food fraud is not a new phenomenon; it has existed for centuries, evolving alongside trade itself. However, in today’s interconnected global supply chains, the risks associated with food fraud have become increasingly complex.  At its core, food fraud involves the deliberate substitution, addition, tampering, or misrepresentation of food, ingredients, packaging, or labeling for economic gain. While financial motivation is the primary driver, the consequences can include serious food safety incidents, regulatory non-compliance, and severe reputational damage.
